Job Role:-
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL / AWS RDS) to manage, monitor, optimize, and evolve PostgreSQL database environments. This role involves supporting high-load on-premises PostgreSQL systems as well as AWS RDS PostgreSQL deployments.
The ideal candidate must bring deep expertise in query performance tuning, database upgrades, and cloud database operations, with hands-on experience in migrations, optimization, and high-availability architecture.
Key Responsibilities
PostgreSQL Administration (On-Premise & Cloud)
• Monitor and tune heavy SQL queries across PostgreSQL environments
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Optimize database performance through indexing and query tuning
• Configure PostgreSQL settings (memory, vacuum, autovacuum, checkpoints)
• Ensure database availability, reliability, and data integrity
• Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
Database Version Upgrades & Compatibility Testing
• Lead PostgreSQL version upgrades (On-Prem & AWS RDS)
• Perform pre-upgrade assessments and compatibility checks
• Execute upgrade testing plans and validate performance
• Ensure application compatibility and system stability
AWS RDS PostgreSQL & Cloud Operations
• Design and manage AWS RDS PostgreSQL instances
• Configure high availability, backups, and security
• Monitor RDS performance and scalability
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams
Database Migration & Modernization
• Lead migrations from On-Prem PostgreSQL to AWS RDS
• Execute migrations with minimal downtime
• Perform validation and performance testing post-migration
• Recommend modernization and architecture improvements
DevOps & Automation
• Automate database provisioning and maintenance
• Support CI/CD pipelines involving database changes
• Use scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years as Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)
• Deep PostgreSQL performance tuning expertise
• Experience with PostgreSQL version upgrades
• Strong AWS RDS PostgreSQL experience
• Linux/Unix system knowledge
• DevOps tools and automation experience
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Experience supporting large-scale PostgreSQL environments
• AWS services experience (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3)
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)
Must Have
✅ Worked on very large databases (100TB+)
✅ End-to-end migration experience
✅ Strong AWS RDS / Aurora practical experience
✅ Deep DBA knowledge (performance, tuning, backup, vacuum)
✅ Real production experience
